How To Set Up An Effective Email Campaign

This comes from an email that I have written to several people. First of all, like anything, getting an "effective" email marketing campaign going involves going through a learning curve. The greater the level of your understanding of internet technology can help reduce that learning curve.

The most effective approach, in my opinion, is a 3-step approach. It is like a funnel that brings qualified prospects to your business. And, once you have this 3-step process going it can be much more effective than purchasing real time leads.

Step 1 - Use bulk email leads (such as the ones on our lead feed) sent out through a large capacity autoresponder. With an autoresponder, you will load in several messages (maybe as many as 10 messages) that will be delivered to your leads over several days and weeks. Once you load your leads in, the autoresponder does all the work for you, sending out all the messages. You don't have to do a thing anymore, except load more leads in.

For example, when you load your leads into the autoresponder they will receive the first message in the series. Then, the autoresponder will send out the second message when you have it scheduled to be sent out. Then the third, fourth, fifth, etc.

Day 1 - They get message #1
Day 3 - They get message #2
Day 6 - They get message #3
Day 10 - They get message #4
etc.

Most people do not respond to the first message. Most people will begin responding to your 3rd and 4th messages... and many won't respond until they see your 7th message. When you are loading in new leads almost every day, you will have people receiving messages on all the different days, and you will begin to see momentum begin to build with the number of responses you are getting. This is one of the most powerful parts about an autoresponder.

Step 2 - Have those leads go to a lead capture page (also known as a landing page or squeeze page). This is typically a one page site that gives details, maybe an online movie, audios, testimonials, and some decent content that would be compelling enough for the prospect to want to enter their name, phone number, and email address to receive specific information about your home business.

Your company may provide one for you, or you may need to have one designed for you. They aren't that expensive. But, these lead capture pages are very similar to what most leads companies use, and now you would have a very qualified, exclusive, and real time lead that was generated through your site.

Step 3 - A followup series of messages sent to the prospect after giving you their information on the landing page. This followup series will need to be delivered through a "closed loop" autoresponder. They have a MUCH higher rate of delivery. I use Aweber for this, and I get a 97%+ delivery rate.

If your company already provides a landing page, then steps 2 and 3 are probably already covered. If not, setting up steps 2 and 3 can take a little extra time, but in my opinion, is probably more effective than using a company-provided system.

So, with this system, you would have 2 autoresponders and a landing page. Each autoresponder would have it's own set of followup messages. The first would be a bit more generic to lead them to the landing page. The second would be very specific about your business.
